Art Therapy
In Uganda, Creative Arts are often underestimated in schools, with many unaware of their critical role in a child’s development.
Research shows that arts education has a lasting positive impact, enhancing academic achievement, social skills, emotional well-being, and future economic opportunities.
Upshift Youth Empowerment Initiative provides children in Buikwe with access to a safe, supportive space where they can explore and develop their creative arts skills—including painting, drawing, sculpting, and crafting—unlocking their potential and nurturing self-expression.
About this program
Creative Arts Therapy, in partnership with Archaic Therapies LLC since January 2025, offers free art-based therapeutic activities to children from underprivileged communities in Buikwe, Uganda. To date, 40 children have participated and benefited from this program.
Our Creative Arts Therapy program provides children with a safe and supportive space to express their emotions, reduce stress, and build confidence. Through engaging activities such as painting, crafting, sculpting, and drawing, children explore their creativity, discover healthy outlets for self-expression, and nurture their talents.
“When I paint, I feel calm and happy. It helps me forget my worries and dream big,” says Racheal, a 12-year-old participant.
The program also empowers talented painters and craftspeople in our local communities, creating opportunities for skill development, mentorship, and sustainable livelihoods.
